Bitcoin Pizza Day
Bitcoin Pizza Day, celebrated annually on May 22, marks a historic milestone in cryptocurrency history. On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer and early Bitcoin enthusiast, made the first documented real-world purchase using Bitcoin. He posted on the Bitcointalk forum, offering 10,000 BTC for two large pizzas. After days of waiting, Jeremy Sturdivant accepted the offer, ordering two Papa John’s pizzas for Hanyecz in Florida, costing about $41 at the time. This transaction proved Bitcoin could function as a medium of exchange, moving it beyond a theoretical concept. Back then, Bitcoin had little value, but by 2025, those 10,000 BTC would be worth hundreds of millions, making the pizzas legendary. Hanyecz’s purchase showed Bitcoin’s potential, sparking global interest and adoption. Today, Bitcoin Pizza Day is celebrated worldwide with pizza parties, crypto meetups, and transactions, honoring the humble beginnings of a decentralized financial revolution. It’s a reminder of how far Bitcoin has come and its transformative impact.

Bitcoin Passion Explained
For those with no knowledge of bitcoin, this video explains why bitcoiners are passionate about sharing it. We believe bitcoin can fix many global issues, sometimes getting overly evangelical. On behalf of the next bitcoiner preaching at the pub, work, or Sunday lunch, please accept my apologies.
